Calm before the storm

By TheGraveMind
So with just a few days away from the Indy open, there is a calm settling as everyone is working hard getting their armies ready and getting the last few practice games in before the big day. The turn out at the Kokomo tournament was really good, with xenos making a great show. I tried out a new variation of a list for it, and really liked the results. So now I'm in a mad dash to get my new units finished. I've put the last finishing touches on my display board and everything is coming together nicely.

If you have an army, a free weekend and the will to compete, I highly recommend you checking it out, there might be a few open spot left. TheIndyOpen

Two Days To K-Town... And Something Else Special

by SandWyrm

If you haven't signed up for the K-Town throwdown yet, there's still some spots available. I've also been told that Spag and Uberdark have cooked up something pretty nice as a raffle prize.

Patents Are What's Limiting 3D Printing Right Now

by SandWyrm

Wired has a good article up on the patent hurdles that the new crop of low-cost 3D Printer makers are having to contend with. It's worth a look.

So is the web page for Sandboxr, who are offering full-color 3D prints like the figure above, which is about the same size as a 40K Bloodthirster. Watch their video to see users playing with their models on an iPad before the print is made. This is the future, however long it takes to get here. :)

So Grey Knight sales are down?

By TheGravemind

So the deamons have been rumored for a while now, and with warriors of chaos coming out of nowhere, I figured that was it. I didn't think the daemons would get an update.... I mean, there are tons more that need it first. Daemons are one of the most feared armies right now, they just got a white dwarf update. But the fickle dark gods have more up their sleeves than us mortals know.... The daemonic incursion has begun!

What Are They Smoking In New Zealand?

by SandWyrm

Well, I've been waiting to see what Battlefront would do to combat their Plastic Soldier Company competition, and now we know. They're not going to do a damn thing.

The K-Town Throwdown Is In 11 Days!

by SandWyrm

Are you looking for some much-needed practice leading up to the Indy Open? Well, Gamer DMZ in Kokomo is starting off their new monthly tournament schedule by running an Indy Open primer tournament on the 23rd. A week before the big event itself here in Indy. And the prize support? It's quite nice for a tournament of this size.

So I Went To See The Hobbit And...

by SandWyrm

Having a rare evening to myself, and not having anything better to do, I decided to go see the new Hobbit movie last Friday. Here's what I thought of it.

Beware of spoilers. You have been warned.

Mawloc vs Trygon

By TheGraveMind
Found this over at BOLS
I've been going back and forth about to run mawlocs or trygons in my list. I'll list some of my thoughts, but I want you all to weigh in what you are more afraid of facing. They both have great uses and can be very rough on the opponents, and so it really comes down to what you need in your list, and how you want to play them.

Nuclear Launch Detected!!!

by SandWyrm

For those who think that 3D printing will only ever be a rare, expensive, enthusiast thing. Here's your first truly disruptive product. A (cheap to refill) filament printer starting at only $499. It has 0.3mm resolution and can print within a 6" x 6" cube. That's more than fine enough to print out a 40K-scale tank model.
